Family forced to relocate, says Hsien Loong's nephew

The feud had simmered following the death in March 2015 of the elder Lee, who ruled Singapore with an iron hand but transformed the city-state from a relatively poor British colony into one of the world's wealthiest and most stable societies.

"We feel big brother omnipresent". From (L-R) daughter-in-law Lee Suet Fern, son Lee Hsien Yang, Chief Justice Tong Pung How, daughter Lee Wei Ling, Lee, wife Kwa Geok Choo, son Lee Hsien Loong, daughter-in-law Ho Ching and granddaughter Li Xiuqi.

Late night postings by Lee Kuan Yew's daughter carries on into the second day. They added: "We feel hugely uncomfortable and closely monitored in our own country".

"We believe, unfortunately, that Hsien Loong is driven by a desire for power and personal popularity", read the statement.

"The Committee has made clear to Dr Lee Wei Ling and Mr Lee Hsien Yang (in response to a query from them) that the Government has no intention of doing anything with the House as long as Dr Lee Wei Ling continues to reside there". He is a businessman and is now the chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore.

Their criticism appeared to focus on a dispute over the fate of the family home, the influence of the first lady on government, and allegations that the prime minister had unannounced political ambitions for his son.

As he is now on leave with his family overseas, "as my siblings know", PM Lee added that he will "consider this matter further" once he returns. Most weekends, she turns nocturnal, except when brunch comes into play. In May she said she would no longer write for the government-controlled New Straits Times after editors censored an article she wrote saying Lee Kuan Yew would have cringed at the depth of hero worship that has surfaced in the year since his death in April 2015.

Lee Hsien Loong is now overseas on holiday with his family.

The Lee family looms large over Singapore's establishment, and the internal strife, while not unknown, will come as a shock due to the public manner in which it has been aired. Among those attending the funeral will be Southeast Asian heads of state and Prime Ministers Narendra Modi of India and Tony Abbott of Australia. "Hsien Loong has everything to gain from preserving 38 Oxley Road".

The current PM has largely avoided sparring with his sister in public. "They see it as an unfortunate family feud".

Rezwana Manjur, a true blue city girl and complete social animal, spends half her time sifting through advertising scandals, and the other half testing out brands' retail marketing strategies at the mall.

The statement was released early on Wednesday and remarked that Hsien Yang and his wife planned to leave Singapore.

Congressman, others recovering after being shot at suburban DC ball practice
At a news conference near the scene of the shooting , Virginia's Democratic governor, Terry McAuliffe, urged gun control measures. Joe Barton (R-TX), who manages the Republican baseball team, told reporters a few hours after the shooting.

The younger siblings accused the prime minister of wanting to "milk Lee Kuan Yew's legacy for their own political purposes".

Lee Wei Ling with her father and mother Kwa Geok Choo in 2003.

Instead of demolishing LKY's house as the former leader desired, the PM has sought to make the residence his personal home - a move that would enhance his political capital, the siblings continued. Kwa died in 2010 at the age of 89.

That, the statement said, led to "accusations and misrepresentations" on Lee Hsien Loong's behalf. They said the preservation of the colonial-era bungalow - near the Orchard Road shopping district - would allow the premier to "inherit a tangible monument to Lee Kuan Yew's authority".

"We are private citizens with no political ambitions".

PM Lee had said in Parliament: "At that point, speaking as a son, I would like to see these wishes carried out".

The 32-year-old Li said: "The situation is now such that my parents have made plans to relocate to another country, a painful decision that they have not made lightly".

Wei Ling and Hsien Yang have also stated that they feel extremely sad that they are pushed to this position. It is heart-wrenching for me to leave this country. "It is not something I would do lightly".

The siblings went on to say their brother Lee had defied their father's instructions to tear down the house.

Founded in 1954, the ruling People's Action Party (PAP) has governed since Singapore's independence in 1965.

Added Lee: "I will do my utmost to continue to do right by my parents".
