Brampton soccer star Cyle Larin arrested for DUI in Florida

The Florida Highway Patrol says the 22-year-old Larin was arrested early Thursday after driving the wrong way on an Orlando street.

"The Club is very disappointed in Cyle Larin's actions that resulted in this charge and does not take this situation lightly", Orlando City Soccer Club said in a statement Thursday afternoon.

A report from the Orlando Sentinel said that an oncoming vehicle stopped just short of being in a head-on collision with Larin and when asked how much he had to drink, kept changing his story after saying he had "two or three vodka Red Bulls".

The 2015 AT&T MLS Rookie of the Year blew a.179 and a.182 during the field sobriety tests, and told the officer he had "two or three vodka Redbulls".

The police report relating to Larin's arrest is publicly available by searching for his name at this link.

Larin was booked into the Orange County Jail and was being held in lieu of $500 bond. He will undergo an assessment by MLS' Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health ("SABH") Program doctors pursuant to the SABH Policy. Another vehicle just avoided a head-on collision with Larin's Cadillac, officers said.

Larin told the officer he was from Toronto and unfamiliar with the area, although he said he had lived in Orlando for three years.

Major League Soccer will remain in close communication with the Orlando City SC, local law enforcement, and the MLS Players Union during this investigation.

Larin's team had no immediate comment. He didn't appear Wednesday night for Orlando City in its US Open Cup loss to Miami FC. He has eight goals in 15 games so far, which is tied for third in the league.

His 39 goals through 68 career MLS starts have attracted interest from clubs in Europe.
