"I didn't think I could strangle it with my bare hands", she told the Bangor Daily News.

Faced with having no other choice, she fought it off, killing it with her bare hands by holding it in a puddle of water as it gripped onto her hand with its teeth and clawed and scratched at her. Borch, who lives in Hope, Maine, told the Bangor Daily News that her run was lovely, ordinary and peaceful ... until it wasn't. "I knew instantly it was rabid", she said.

She couldn't avoid the raccoon, she told the newspaper; the trail was too narrow.

Suddenly, it was at her feet.

She said she was on a jog when she spotted the cute animal on the path. As she was running, she encountered the raccoon on the path and it began charging toward her. With adrenaline pumping, Borch suspended her disbelief. He told her he thought it odd that the raccoon, normally a nocturnal animal, was out in the daytime.

"She told her mom what happened, and they jumped in the auto and went to the hospital". When she was free from the beast, she ran home and asked her mom to call 9-1-1 while her father went to get the raccoon to stop another animal from walking away with it.

Jeanne Shaheen, a New Hampshire Democrat, whether he has seen good cause to fire Mueller. Until now, Mueller had drawn widespread praise from Republicans and Democrats alike.

Connecting the dots quickly, Borch, then on her knees, dragged the still biting raccoon, which was scratching frantically at her hand and arms, into the puddle.

"With my thumb in its mouth, I just pushed its head down into the muck", recounts Borch. "It was still struggling and clawing at my arms and legs, (and) it wouldn't let go of my thumb".

She has one more round of shots to go.

"How this girl had the peace of mind to do what she did boggles me", said Blood.

Borch remembers looking back once to see if the raccoon had started chasing her again. "It felt like "Pet Sematary", she said.

Kicking her shoes off because they were soaked, Borch ran the three-quarters of a mile home to her house.
