Two Georgia Inmates Are On The Run After Killing Corrections Officers
A reward of $60,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrests of two escaped Georgia inmates accused of killing two prison guards.
The US Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, FBI and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are involved in the search, along with several other agencies. The agency tweeted that the amount is likely to increase.
Cops say the theft may have enabled them to flee the state. A Georgia sheriff said officers were "desperate". They are extremely risky.
Georgia is now investigating how two risky prisoners were able to overpower the guards. Troopers with the Georgia State Patrol and officers with the Georgia Department of Corrections led the way along a stretch of I-20 and later U.S. Highway 441 from Madison to Milledgeville.
"Please keep the families of our officers in your thoughts and prayers", Jeal Salter, the spokeswoman, said in an email. Billue, 58, a 10-year employee, is survived by his father, brother and sister, Georgia Department of Corrections Commissioner Greg Dozier said.
"As long as they are out, they'll pose a threat to the communities they're in", LeValley said Thursday.
The two men were cellmates and friends in prison, and may have planned their escape; however, the bus ride Tuesday morning was unscheduled, officials said. He has crowns inked above his eyebrows, a star below his right ear and graffiti-style letters all across his neck.
The armed convicts are also believed to have gotten their hands on some cash.
The pair are violent repeat offenders and are armed with the dead guards'.9 mm handguns.
According to the Oconee County Georgia Sheriff's Office, the truck was taken from Morgan County in the Seven Islands Road area. Investigators still don't know how two inmates breached the gate, but they do know what happened next: The two prisoners overpowered the guards, stole their guns, and shot them to death.
Authorities may have no shortage of witnesses to the killing of two guards on a prison bus in Georgia.
The other inmates have been questioned and a camera on the bus recorded the guards being shot, but corrections officials have not explained to the public how the pair managed to get through the inmate compartment's normally locked door.
Sills agreed that the two men are very unsafe.
Sheriff Howard Sills said both inmates are now armed with the officers'.40 caliber Glock pistols.
The other prisoners on the bus were taken to the sheriff's office and put on another corrections department bus. A green 2004 Honda Civic was carjacked shortly after the shooting on Hwy 16. Two of the Sheriff's Office's vehicles with deputies inside were fired upon during the pursuit.
"We are searching everywhere in America, ' said Sills".
Some of the reports said they were looking under the vehicle's hood. Authorities said the inmates carjacked the driver of the Honda minutes after shooting the officers.
If you have any information on the whereabouts of the suspects, you're urged to call 911.
After forcing the driver out, they drove west toward Eatonton, Sills said. She says a witness saw the men escape in a dark green Honda.
The names of the prison guards weren't immediately released.
Deal has vowed to organize every state resource necessary to capture two inmates from custody.
An expanding manhunt is underway for Donnie Russell Rowe, 43, and Ricky Dubose, 24. It was taken sometime between 6 p.m. Tuesday and 6 a.m. Wednesday.
