Tom Cruise reportedly had too much control over The Mummy
The Mummy's supposed authentic feel was lost in the movie with the action packed Tom Cruise styled vision. Can Nick and ancient artifact protector Jenny Halsey (Annabelle Wallis) stop the vengeful princess?
See this to support a movie made in Namibia for a couple weeks and to hear Nick from "New Girl" yell his own name, miss this if you've ever watched "Indiana Jones", "Tomb Raider, ' "National Treasure" and...err..."
It's been in theatres for just one week, but the post-mortem on The Mummy has already begun. Who knows what his monsterness will evolve into over the course of the next film? Will we have a bunch of separate films - with Russell Crowe's Dr. Jekyll and his organisation Prodigium being the connection - before we get some kind of mega monster mash-up? They uncover Ahmanet's coffin, who curses Nick and kills his companion.
Unfortunately Nick is part of that ritual that changes everything that is to come!
Going into The Mummy expecting a turkey will soften the blow, but the film's story contrivances and tonal shifts make it freakish, mustering up a half-wink to signal we're in on the joke only for us to realise it's not winking, it's died. The character is iconic and I thought it would be a great challenge. They removed the mummy wrappings that Universal itself made famous in order to create a "sexy" mummy.
Rosenworcel Renom: Handicapping What's Next at the FCC
President Donald Trump plans to nominate Democrat Jessica Rosenworcel for another term on the Federal Communications Commission . Her nomination must still be sent to the Senate and confirmed there, but that is expected to happen without incident.
Before the Dementors of "Harry Potter" or Jason from "Friday The 13th", people knew a completely different generation of monsters that included Dracula, Frankenstein's Monster, Mr. Hyde, the Zombie, The Wolfman, and the Mummy. There, Ahmanet gets out and goes on the town, sucking all the life out of passersby.
The Mummy opens, like all good movies about an ancient Egyptian monster, in 12th century England. It should have released "The Mummy", kept their Dark Universe plans under wraps and naturally built off of the film in a way that felt organic and equivalent to the audience demand. He'll be alright. He's Tom Cruise. "Mission Impossible" aside, he doesn't need to be doing this film. Despite all I heard about it, though, I just couldn't help myself.
JJ: Don't put evil in the air talking about a "Van Helsing" reboot! This is a shame because I think she could have a major presence if the role was better-written. Even though it was something that was quite tiring because of the time I spent there. Then again I didn't care one wit for the character and actually tried to finish the film not thinking about him again. In 1999, they chose to make another movie about a mummy. If you want good popcorn fodder and escapism at its minimum, this is one for you. Notice there is nothing modern in this piece and yet watching every piece of this clip is just fantastic. But making things hard to see doesn't necessarily make things scary.
"I would've settled for the last Rolo..." On The Mummy, Universal's stagnant launch to their Dark Universe franchise, that person was reportedly Tom Cruise. "He will walk onto a set and tell the director what to do, say 'that's not the right lens, ' ask about the sets, and as long as you don't fluff what you're saying to him. he's easy to work for".
The newestMummy may have not been the hit that Universal was hoping for, however future installments of the franchise still offer potential and I am very interested in what they have planned next.
