Martinez, 38, was still in the hospital on Friday afternoon as the doctors tried to find the cause.

News just came down that the Tigers designated hitter, Victor Martinez, spent the night in the hospital and is expected to stay another night.

According to CBS Sports, Martinez asked to be pulled from Thursday's game because he was suffering from cold sweats, dizziness and a racing heartbeat. Through 60 games this year, Martinez had been hitting.261/.337/.376 (93 OPS+) with five home runs and 29 RBI.

Cosby judge declares mistrial as jury deadlocks again
She spent almost seven hours on the stand over the course of two days telling her side of the story for the first time. Cosby was charged with three counts of aggravated indecent assault and face up to 10 years for each charge.

To take Martinez's spot on the roster, the Tigers recalled catcher/first baseman John Hicks from Triple-A Toledo. Martinez first experienced the symptoms late in the game on Thursday against the Rays, and on Friday he underwent testing. Perhaps it will benefit him to see less time in the field as he works to battle through his injuries.

Manager Brad Ausmus notes that Martinez will remain in the Detroit area for rest and further monitoring while the Tigers themselves embark on a west coast trip.
