Trump weighs firing Mueller, according to confidante
Shortly after leaving the White House, Ruddy appeared on PBS Newshour and said that Trump is considering firing special prosecutor Bob Mueller, who is investigating the Trump campaign's potential collusion with Russia, Trump's firing of Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey, and related matters.
"I think he's considering perhaps terminating the special counsel", said Ruddy.
CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin said on "Anderson Cooper 360" that should Trump choose to fire Mueller the job would actually fall to Assistant Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who just appointed Mueller in mid-May to take over the Russian Federation probe in the wake of Trump's firing of FBI Director James Comey.
Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein said he would only consider dismissing Robert Mueller if there was good cause.
A senior White House official confirmed that the president had interviewed Mueller for the FBI post in the Oval Office the day before Rosenstein tapped him to be the special counsel in the Russian Federation investigation.
The appearances, however, are likely to be overshadowed by Attorney General Jeff Sessions' public appearance at a Senate intelligence committee hearing. We don't have to believe former FBI Director James Comey's account of Trump's threats and blandishments.
Nathan Beaulieu traded to Sabres
He also opened the regular season on Montreal's top pairing with Shea Weber , but was quickly moved in favour of Alexi Emelin. Beaulieu makes sense for the Sabres, though, as he's a smart two-way player who can work on the man advantage.
"While the president has every right to" fire Mueller, "he has no intention to do so", White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters late Tuesday after a day of speculation over Mueller's fate.
As the Washington Post reported Wednesday, that special counsel investigation has since expanded to include whether Trump committed obstruction of justice by ousting the former FBI director. Conservative writers, radio hosts and cable personalities - emboldened by the president himself, who has called it a witch hunt - have repeatedly sought to discredit the inquiry, its investigators, the mainstream news accounts of it, and the lawmakers on Capitol Hill who are demanding more answers. Deace explained that the best way for President Trump to move the country forward is to govern well. Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) suggested it could lead Congress to re-establish an independent counsel statute and reappoint Mueller.
Rosenstein explained how he interpreted Mueller's authority, the regulations governing the special counsel's office, and how he viewed his investigation so far. There have been so many things that people such as me and Ruddy told him he couldn't or shouldn't do, only to have Trump do them and then win the GOP nomination. and then the presidency. and then keep the Republican Party nearly completely united behind his presidency.
A spokesman for Mr Mueller declined to comment. Could even Donald Trump be so politically tuned out to invite more suspicion of his motives, judgment and stability? It's unclear whether the president could override those rules and order Rosenstein to fire Mueller.
White House staffers made a concerted effort to talk Trump down from ordering that Mueller be fired, the paper said.
"I think it's pretty clear by what one of his lawyers said on television recently, ' said Ruddy, referring to an interview between attorney Jay Sekulow and ABC News" George Stephanopoulos on Sunday morning.

Ryan: "Let Mueller do his job"
He noted that Mueller can "only be fired for good cause", and it would be his job to put that good cause into writing. He added , "I'm not going to follow any order unless I believe those are lawful and appropriate orders".

Who could fire special counsel Robert Mueller
But Trump's conservative allies have begun to turn on the special counsel , despite initially praising his appointment. Of course, Trump could direct Rosenstein to fire Mueller and cite any of those reasons above.
