The somewhat vague tweet seems to refer to Rosenstein, who wrote a memo outlining an argument against former Federal Bureau of Investigation director James B. Comey. "We're not and the only person responsible for that is the president with these very controversial tweets today", he said.
Mr. Rosenstein in May appointed former FBI Director Robert Mueller as special counsel to oversee the Russian Federation probe - which has now reportedly stretched to include inquiries into the business dealings of Mr. Trump's son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner, as well as whether Mr. Trump tried to obstruct the Russian Federation investigation.
Mueller is said to be investigating whether Trump obstructed the course of justice in the probe into Russian interference in the USA elections. Some of his ire is aimed at Rosenstein and investigative special counselRobert Mueller, both of whom the president believes are biased against him, associates say.
Some Republicans have called for Mueller's firing, citing alleged conflicts of interest.
That tweet came a day after The Washington Post reported that Mueller had expanded his probe to look into whether Trumphimself tried to obstruct justice by allegedly pressing top intelligence officials to intervene in ongoing investigations.
The president complained the probe is unfair and wondered why his defeated Democratic opponent wasn't getting the same scrutiny.
In a tweet earlier Friday, Trump said nobody has been able to show any proof about his collusion with Moscow after months of investigations.
Trump and his White House have offered various explanations for Comey's abrupt ouster, including that he lost the confidence of the bureau's rank and file - a suggestion flatly dismissed by acting director Andrew McCabe.
The US leader thinks he is the victim of a conspiracy aimed at discrediting his leadership and ending his time in the White House, according to the Associated Press.
