Trump's friend Christopher Ruddy says President 'considering' firing Mueller
19 June 2017, 02:09 | Guillermo Sutton
Trump would seemingly have to order Deputy Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein to rescind department regulations protecting a special counsel from being fired for no good reason, and then to fire Mr. Mueller.
Newsmax CEO Christopher Ruddysaid Tuesday he sees special counsel Robert Mueller's probe of possible Russian collusion as a threat to Donald Trump's presidency because Mueller appears "out to get the president". "If there were not good cause, it would not matter what anybody says". Sessions recused himself from investigations related to the Trump campaign in February, a move that also provoked Trump's ire.
Rosenstein, who has been on the job for six weeks, said only he could fire Mueller, and only if he found good cause to do so. As he has already said earlier in the day, Rosenstein is not involved in the investigation and does not know any details regarding what's going on.
Newsmax CEO Christopher Ruddytold PBS that Trump was considering getting rid of Mueller, and other Trump confidants ― most prominently former House Speaker Newt Gingrich ― have been airing criticisms of the former Federal Bureau of Investigation director and questioning his objectivity.

"Time to rethink", he tweeted, citing Mueller's hiring decisions and Comey's admission that he'd instructed a friend to share with reporters notes he'd taken of his private conversations with Trump in order to force the appointment of a special counsel.
"All I've heard so much are rumors, but I think in the best case for the president is to be vindicated by allowing this investigation to go on thoroughly and independently".
Mueller was appointed by the Justice Department to helm the investigation after Trump abruptly fired Comey - who was the one previously leading the Russian Federation probe - in early May.
Gingrich also said Trump is confident that Mueller will find he did nothing wrong, but Gingrich worries.
Starr, however, warned that Mueller should be careful not to "wander outside the bounds of professionalism and basic integrity" - as those would be grounds to fire him.
Rosenstein may be asked to address the issue when he speaks at a Senate subcommittee hearing Tuesday morning.
Paul Ryan: 'Let Robert Mueller Do His Job'
He added that fundraising records show some of the lawyers whom Mueller selected for his team have contributed to Democrats. Trump could order Mueller's dismissal. (Melania also reportedly told her husband "she believed the appointment of Mr.
