After Hospital Visit with Scalise, Ryan Says He's Doing Well

25 June 2017, 03:29 | Guillermo Sutton

Steve Scalise, the Louisiana lawmaker shot last week at a USA congressional baseball team practice, is no longer in the intensive care unit of the hospital where he is being treated and remains in fair condition, the hospital said on Friday. All five people who were shot, including two U.S. Capitol police officers, survived their injuries.

Scalise and other congressional Republicans were practicing for their annual charity baseball game against Democrats when a gunman started shooting.

I lost in the quarter-finals for the two years, so I'm really happy that I was able to go one step further", he said. Dimitrov moved into the last four with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 win against Russia's Daniil Medvedev .

The attack on a group of Republican lawmakers at an Alexandria, Va., baseball field was not linked to terrorism, the Federal Bureau of Investigation said in a briefing on Wednesday. Members of the House were wearing purple-and-gold fleur-de-lis lapel stickers, a familiar symbol in Louisiana — Rep. Steve Scalise's home state. He entered the hospital in critical condition and has undergone several surgeries. He was eventually upgraded to serious condition. They revealed that they found a note on the gunman, James Hodgkinson with members of Congress's names on it. Hodgkinson bought the guns in April, after Trump was elected, Slater said. Sanders has previously stated that the shooter apparently volunteered on his presidential campaign. Hodgkinson had been in email contact with the two Democratic senators from IL, he said.

House Speaker Paul Ryan says the congressman grievously injured in last week's shooting at a Republican baseball practice is "on the road to recovery" but it will take some time. Democratic manager Mike Doyle of Pennsylvania said he and GOP coach Joe Barton of Texas were delivering the trophy - won by Democrats this year - to Scalise's office and hoped to get clearance to visit him in the hospital.
