Rep. Scalise upgraded to fair condition

Slater was sharing new investigative findings into the shooting that injured six people, including House Majority Whip Steve Scalise. "He remains in fair condition as he continues an extended period of healing and rehabilitation", according to a statement released Friday by the hospital. The hospital listed Scalise in serious condition on Saturday, but showing signs of improvement.

Mr Scalise and other congressional Republicans were practising for their annual charity baseball game against Democrats when a gunman started shooting. All five people who were shot, including two U.S. Capitol police officers, survived their injuries. In November, shortly after Trump was elected, he purchased the two guns that he used in the shooting, a rifle and a 9mm handgun.

Suzanne Hodgkinson, his wife of 30 years, said he told her he was going to Washington, D.C., to "work on taxes" and "change the tax brackets".

The FBI found a Google search of truck stops, maps and toll-free routes to the Northern Virginia area on his computers. Prior to his trip, local police went to his house in response to complaints he was conducting target practice there but concluded he wasn't breaking the law.

Scalise has undergone several surgeries at the hospital in the nation's capital, where he was admitted after the June 14 attack on a sports field in nearby Virginia.

America's Cup: Team New Zealand dominate U.S. in Bermuda
A member of Emirates Team New Zealand raises a sail before a sailing training session Friday, June 16, 2017, in Hamilton, Bermuda. We sailed better today but we also made a lot of mistakes and we are a long way from where we want to be", says Burling.

Officials also said Hodgkinson had kept a storage locker in Alexandria and visited it 43 times between April and June, usually between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. "I would call it a piece of paper with six names on it".

"A review of Hodgkinson's web searches in the months prior to the shooting revealed only a cursory search of two of those members of Congress", the Federal Bureau of Investigation said.

The first-term Republication added, "These folks gave their very best to our country, and they deserve the very best from their country". He said, 'OK, thanks, ' and turned around. When he heard the players were Republican, the witness said he lingered near the field. The VA is the second-largest department in the USA government, with more than 350,000 employees, and it is charged with providing health care and other services to military veterans.

At this point in the investigation, the attack appears to be "more spontaneous" than planned, Slater said.

A female police officer with less than 2 years' experience withstood a barrage of gunfire from the gunman. Hodgkinson's posts did not include "threats or references to Members of Congress or the Congressional baseball game".
