The fresh wave of floods has submerged upper and lower Assam, affecting almost 10 lakh people. The authorities have opened 268 relief camps and distribution centres in 14 districts, where 63,797 people are taking shelter at present.
The report said Brahmaputra, Buridihing, Dhansiri, Jia Bharali, Puthimari and Sankosh rivers were flowing above danger levels and have submerged more than 20,000 hectares of cropland.
The ASDMA said 11 lakh people are affected in Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Biswanath, Sonitpur, Baksa, Barpeta, Bongaigaon, Chirang, Kokrajhar, Dhubri, South Salmara, Morigaon, Golaghat, Jorhat, Majuli, Sivasagar, Charaideo, Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts.
Following continuous rains since 10 August Assam has again been hit by floods.
The likely impact of the rain as inferred from rainfall runoff model run for three days advisory forecast is likely rapid rise in water levels of the rivers, it said.
