A complete shutdown is being observed in Indian-occupied Kashmir today (Saturday) against the Indian plans to abrogate Article 35A of Indian Constitution.
The Kashmir officials say that most of the buses will stay off road special government buses but some private buses and other vehicles will be available to the public. She further said all mainstream political parties will lose relevance in the Kashmir Valley if Article 35 (A) is done away with. Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti said that there is an improvement in the situation in Jammu and Kashmir. The autonomy resolution passed by the J&K assembly in 2000, which asks for restoration of the 1953 position, also recommends that the word "temporary" be omitted so Article 370 becomes a permanent feature of the Constitution of India.

In July, the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister warned that any change in Article 35 (A) of the Constitution, would not be in favour of the people living in the Valley and would invite repercussions.
