Daily Afternoon Rain & Storms

Monday's Video Forecast - August 14

Heavy rain and storms will continue to push east across the state this morning. Storms should diminish overnight. The heavier and more extensive rain areas will move east tomorrow night with some rain lingering overnight.

We start off with mostly cloudy skies across the Mid-South, with temps warming up to 84°; heat index: 87°. By mid-week a ridge of high pressure looks to strengthen in Deep South which may bring rain chances down and allow temperatures will climb back into the low to mid 90s. Drying out by Friday into next weekend. Wind: SE 5-10. High: 85.

Monday: Morning clouds, then partly cloudy, warm and humid.

Another day of scattered to widespread storms is expected as recycled moisture combines with a disturbance passing to the north... and additional help arrives with a backdoor cold front edging in over the Northeast Plains.

"Saturday's chance of rain is highest near U.S. 278 and lowest in Southern Tennessee; these storms may be heavy enough to deliver 1-2" of rainfall in a few spots, but that kind of rain looks sparse.

That said I am still going with about a 40% chance for pop-up showers and storms Sunday afternoon, especially for the areas that saw the heaviest rainfall on Saturday.

Sat: High: 88 Low: 68 Mostly sunny.

Temperatures will struggle to reach the low 90's over the next few days.
