Marshawn Lynch didn't play Saturday night, but he did make a statement in his return to an National Football League game field.

USA Today photographer Mark Rebilas captured the image of Lynch sitting behind the rest of his teammates ahead of their contest against the Arizona Cardinals in Glendale, Arizona on Saturday.

Why Lynch chose to sit hasn't yet been revealed, but it comes almost one year after Colin Kaepernick began a protest of the oppression of people of color by sitting and kneeling during the playing of the national anthem during the 2016 season.
