Hurricane Irma has severely affected the power grids and power lines. Nursing home owner Jack Michel never replaced the system, Bichachi said.
Florida Gov. Rick Scott, R, a former hospital chief executive, said in a statement the situation is "unfathomable". Another 18 patients in an adjacent behavioral health facility also were evacuated.
