Hurricane Irma has severely affected the power grids and power lines. Police said they have obtained a search warrant for the Rehabilitation Center at Hollywood Hills, which has a history of citations and poor inspections. The Florida Agency for Healthcare Administration gave the Rehabilitation Center at Hollywood Hills a "below average" rating. Broward County, where the facility is located, had said that the nursing home contacted local officials Tuesday morning to say that it had lost power.
The air conditioning came back on around 2 p.m. Wednesday, when the only people left at the facility were detectives.
Nursing home owner Jack Michel never replaced the system, Bichachi said.
Florida Gov. Rick Scott, R, a former hospital chief executive, said in a statement the situation is "unfathomable". Another 18 patients in an adjacent behavioral health facility also were evacuated.

Six patients at a Florida nursing home have died after spending days without air conditioning following Hurricane Irma.
