Bandipora encounter 2 soldiers martyred 2 terrorists gunned down

Two Garud commandos of the Indian Air Force were also martyred in the exchange.

As per the recent reports, two army soldiers and two militants were allegedly killed in a gunfight near Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district on Wednesday.

The local Indian security forces claim that two "militants" were also killed as a result of the encounter.

Deputy Inspector General of Police Virdhi Kumar Birdi told reporters that the slain militants were Abu Baker alias Ali Baba and Nasrullah Mir of Lashkari-e-Taiba (LeT).

The police sources said, "Three soldiers sustained injuries, two of whom were critical and later succumbed". The commandos were patrolling with an army team in Bandipora when LeT militants attacked them. This lead to a gunbattle, the official said. "The Chinar Corps commander and all ranks salute the martyrs and offer condolences to the bereaved families".

Director General of Police (DGP) S P Vaid said the two Lashkar members were involved in several terror attacks in which security forces personnel and civilians had been killed.

"He was killed in a joint operation by the Jammu and Kashmir Police's Special Operation Group, local police, the CRPF and the Army", he had said.

Moreover, It has reported that the terrorist has fired upon the forces around 5 am. The security forces are going after militants as part of Operation Hunt Down and on the basis of a hit list of terrorists.
