Pakistan's army says Canadian man, family rescued from 'terrorist custody'
Three Pakistani military officials, all speaking on condition of anonymity as they weren't allowed to speak to journalists, also confirmed the hostages' identities. The hostages were rescued "through an intelligence-based operation by Pakistani troops and the ISI (Inter-Services Intelligence)".
Coleman, 31, was pregnant at the time of abduction.
A Pakistan military statement said that based on "actionable intelligence from USA", the rescue operation was conducted in the Kurram tribal region near the Afghan border on Wednesday.
The last known footage of the couple surfaced in December previous year when they appeared in video urging their governments to secure their release.
