US flew bombers over Korean peninsula late Tuesday: South Korea military

On Wednesday, the USA and South Korea flew two strategic bombers over the Korean peninsula in a joint military exercise - another show of force against Pyongyang amid the mounting tensions.

The South Korean Foreign Ministry said the upcoming meeting would prepare for U.S. President Donald Trump's scheduled visit to South Korea in November, while consulting on major issues of the two countries, including the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK)'s nuclear program.

It is a rare admission of weakness by the North Korean regime that normally prides itself on being always right and being a major military power-with claims that it can destroy Japan, South Korea, and major cities in the United States with nuclear weapons.

The air-to-ground missile maneuvers near the South Korean coast were intentionally scheduled for North Korea's communist party's anniversary.

Local reports earlier suggested that 10 South Koreans staying close to China's border with North Korea had been asked by Chinese officials to leave for their own protection.

"While I would not characterize them as the best in the world, they are among the best in the world and the best organized", Army Gen. Vincent Brooks, commander of U.S. Forces Korea, told the Senate past year. In August, Pyongyang threatened to fire intermediate-range missiles towards the vicinity of Guam, a US Pacific territory that is frequently subjected to sabre-rattling from the North.

Trump slammed more than two decades of US policy toward North Korea on Twitter on Monday, saying past action to quell the crisis "didn't work".

The statement follows weeks of escalating tensions between North Korea and the United States, fueled by Pyongyang's repeated nuclear tests and Trump's tough talk.

On pay, Sky also suffered a bloody nose as 63.7% of independent investors voted against the company's remuneration report. Sky shares - 7% down in the year to date - were 0.5% up in early trading following the release of the results statement .

Trump on Tuesday met his top advisors, including Defence Secretary James Mattis and Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff General Joseph Dunford, the White House said.

Secret intelligence documents and photos collected by the United States military were among what was stolen from South Korea's classified information by Pyongyang hackers in September 2016.

The Defense Ministry after an investigation said in May that North Korea was likely behind the hacking of the Defense Integrated Data Center in September a year ago, but had refused to confirm media speculation that the decapitation strike plan was compromised.

An investigative team announced in May that the hack had been carried out by North Korea, but did not release information regarding what sort of information had been taken.

If confirmed, the reported hacking attack by the North would be a major blow for South Korea at a time when its relations with rival North Korea are at a low point.

"There is an urgent need for the military to change and update parts that were stolen by North Korea", Lee said.

While the new measures also include limitations on the sale of refined petroleum products and crude oil, European Union member states will not provide new work permits to North Korean nationals. "This positive process is worth a try", the paper said in an editorial late on Tuesday.
