Facebook will now let you order food

Facebook now lets you order food without leaving Facebook

Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) on Friday announced that its users can now order food for takeout or delivery from local restaurants without having to even leave the app.

The company said in a blog post that it has also signed on food ordering services such as EatStreet, Delivery.com, DoorDash and Olo.

Yep, making things easier by adding another step to the process.

"On this page, you can browse food options and select Start Order when you've found what you're looking for". But it's not at all what you might think; Facebook hasn't created its own answer to Seamless, which would be massive news for the restaurant industry. Shares of food order and delivery service GrubHub Inc dropped almost 3%. Once you do, Facebook will bring up an in-app browser that takes you through the existing websites for Delivery.com and the others. And now you can do it on Facebook too.

'The New Mutants' Trailer Brings The Horror
Little is known about the film as of yet, but fans do know it will see a group of mutants forced into a secret facility. True to the advance word on the film, you won't find any costumes here, nor any familiar X-Men.

Hungry customers will be shown a list of participating restaurants in their area, including national chains like Five Guys and Panera, and will be able to select whether they are ordering for pick-up or delivery. So now you can apply for a job and then eat your feelings if you get rejected, all without ever leaving the cosy blue cocoon of the news feed.

A year back, the company has said its US users would be able to order food through a restaurants' Facebook page.

"We've been testing this since past year, and after responding to feedback and adding more partners, we're rolling out everywhere in the United States on iOS, Android and desktop", Alex Himel, Facebook's VP of local, said in a press release. Bit by bit, Facebook is working on cornering another tiny slice of our attention, and giving people reasons to stick around and scroll for a little longer.
