The 24-year-old striker scored six Premier League goals for Spurs last month, plus five more in the Champions League.

Kane was also instrumental in England's unbeaten qualification to the World Cup, having scored the winners in both of their final two games, against Slovenia and Lithuania.

Pochettino also branded Guardiola's comments, made before the global break, as "very disrespectful" and "sad" but insisted his Spurs players only laughed when they heard the Manchester City manager's remark.

Kane was named as the Premier League's player of the month of September after a sparkling run of scoring form, but his manager clearly did not take kindly to Guardiola's claim that he is carrying Tottenham on his own.

"I think that many people took those words as very disrespectful for the club and many players that are here at the club".

"I always said it was Barcelona or Pep Guardiola".

"I know Pep", Pochettino was quoted as saying by Goal, "When he's excited after an unbelievable win he struggles to keep his position and be a gentleman".

Pak court defers indictment of Nawaz Sharif in Panama Papers case
Hussain and Hassan have not appeared before the court on any hearing since the trial began last month. In the notice, both the respondents have been directed to appear before the court within 30 days.

But Pochettino says there is a marked difference between the way the Manchester clubs are able to spend and how others must be more cautious.

"When he was at Barca, I never said "the Messi team".

"I think it's a sad comment because the players laugh about that".

Plus a little video from the press conference.

"[Guardiola] was part of the big success at Barcelona and I never said it was 'the Lionel Messi team, '" Pochettino said on Friday.

"Of course. We have a very good relationship".
