Rose McGowan's 'Twitter Suspended' Amid Harvey Weinstein Sexual Assault Allegations
Shortly after news broke that Zelda Williams was leaving Twitter, [then-CEO] Costolo was getting DMs and texts from Hollywood agents at firms like CAA, threatening to pull their high-profile celebrity clients off Twitter if Costolo didn't stop harassment. Other women say Weinstein sexually harassed them in exchange for acting roles.
On Thursday, British actress Kate Beckinsale became the latest star to speak out against the Hollywood mogul, who she described as "an emblem of a system that is sick".
Although it's not clear exactly who McGowan was talking to besides Bezos, at a 2016 Independent Filmmaker Project event in Brooklyn, the actress said she had sold a script to Amazon. The social media platform didn't specify, but before her suspension she did give Ben Affleck a "F**k you" after he issued an apology to Hilarie Burton for groping her on TRL in 2003. The notice said that Twitter determined McGowan's account had violated the Twitter Rules, she said. He said it hadn't been proved. "I said I was proof".
The context of the revelation was also significant, as McGowan alleged Amazon Studios optioned a TV series from her and then killed it after she voiced concern to executives about Weinstein. It's unclear what movie McGowan is referring to.
Her account of the producer demanding a naked massage became public in a New Yorker story published this week. "@jeffbezos Be the change you want to see in the world".
We have been unable to determine whether McGowan did tweet a phone number. Amazon did not respond to multiple requests for comment from CNNMoney.
Amazon and The Weinstein Co. are partners on two forthcoming streaming TV series.
McGowan's name has come up in connection with Weinstein before. "When I heard a Weinstein bailout was in the works I forcefully begged studio head to do the right thing".
The NYT reported that McGowan reached a $100,000 settlement with Weinstein after an encounter in a hotel room at the Sundance Film Festival in 1997. But she had to later retract that interview, reportedly telling Farrow, "the legal angle is coming at me and I have no recourse" due to a non-disclosure agreement. McGowan was briefly blocked from the platform on Thursday. She included a snapshot of a message from Twitter saying she would only be able to send direct messages from her account unless she deleted tweets that violated Twitter rules.

Brady shrugs off shoulder injury
If the Bills are going to get back into first place after the bye, they need these three players on offense to step up. Yes, the injury is to Brady's non-throwing shoulder, but that doesn't mean it isn't going to affect the way he plays.
