The government has published its Clean Growth Strategy
"Government is clear that clean growth is a priority for the United Kingdom, and that the low-carbon sector can help to increase the competitiveness and productivity of our economy in the decades ahead, creating high-value jobs as well as taking effective action on climate change".
Responding to the announcement, RenewableUK's chief executive, Hugh McNeal said "This government has unveiled an ambitious plan which sets us firmly on a course to deliver the modern, clean energy system which the United Kingdom needs". The world is moving from being powered by polluting fossil fuels to clean energy.
"The impact of the Paris agreement and the unstoppable global shift towards low carbon technologies gives the United Kingdom an unparalleled opportunity", added Climate Change and Industry Minister Claire Perry.
The funding covers programmes in the energy, transport, agriculture and waste sectors, including £265m for smart energy systems and £1bn to promote electric and other low-emission vehicles. "We've shown beyond doubt that renewable energy projects are an effective way to cut our emissions, while creating thousands of good jobs and attracting billions of pounds worth of investment".
"This announcement secures cheap, home-grown, clean energy for the UK". The latest auction saw the cost of new offshore wind fall by 50% compared to the first auction held in 2015 and resulted in over 3GW of new generation which could power 3.6 million homes. Technologies categorized as "less established" in CfD regulations include offshore wind; advanced conversion technologies, with or without combined-heat-and-power (CHP); anaerobic digestion, with or without CHP; dedicated biomass with CHP; wave; tidal stream; and geothermal, with or without CHP.
"Recent announcements in the offshore wind and vehicle manufacturing industries have highlighted how a clear vision, supported by detailed policies, enable the private sector to drive innovation, cut the costs of clean technologies and invest in United Kingdom jobs and supply chains".
The UK Government has launched a scheme to invest up to £10 million in low carbon heating technologies.

ESRB Doesn't Consider Loot Boxes as a Form of Gambling
Given the billions of dollars video game creators make from DLC each year, things like loot boxes aren't going away anytime soon. But it seems that ESRB only counts it as gambling if the players have a chance of not getting anything from the loot box.
