Friends rally around Liam Miller as footballer faces cancer battle
A number of players have tweeted their support for former football star Liam Miller after it emerged the Irishman is undergoing cancer treatment in the United States.
Miller played on Wearside for three years from 2006 to 2009.
Miller, 36, now plays for semi-professional side Wilmington Hammerheads F.C.in North Carolina, U.S.A.
Miller began his career at Celtic where he played under now manager of the Republic of Ireland, Martin O'Neill.
Miller's former Ireland team-mate Noel Hunt wrote on Twitter: "Such sad news about my old room-mate Liam Miller, Pray to God he pulls through this battle with cancer, my thoughts and prayers are with him and his family".
He's reportedly receiving treatment in the USA.
Two of Miller's former clubs, Celtic and Manchester United, are both offering their help and support.

He tweeted: "Awful news about Liam Miller keep fingers crossed that he somehow pulls through". All thoughts go out to him and his family.
Former Celtic player Darren O'Dea added: "All my thoughts and love with Liam Miller and his family".
