Security firm claims got past the iPhone X's Face ID

“In conclusion Face ID on the iPhone X is not as secure as Apple has announced”
Barely ten days into the market, Apple's flagship smartphone, iPhone X' face recognition technology or the Face ID is being challenged by a cybersecurity firm, which claims to have fooled it. The security firm has not stopped with just defeating the facial recognition system of the iPhone X that is claimed to be a secure one.
Apart from these, some special processing was done on the cheeks and 3D face where there are large skin areas that can fool the AI of the Face ID technology. When Apple was detailing this feature, it said that even Hollywood-quality face masks can't fool the Face ID. Plenty of people have raised questions about the video's authenticity since it came to light, and Bkav has tried to answer some of them in a blog post. The parts such as eyes are 2D images.
The security firm previously demonstrated back in 2008 that the facial recognition-based authentication in laptops from Lenovo, Toshiba and Asus could be cracked as well. "We were able to trick Apple's AI, as mentioned in the writing, because we understood how their AI worked and how to bypass it", Bkav researchers wrote.
Bloomberg says the release of the new iPad could be delayed for the next year (2019), if Face ID remains complicated to build, the company is preferring to produce more iPhone in 2018 than to redirect some of its components to tablets. And Face ID was not able to distinguish between the two.
"Security units' competitors, commercial rivals of corporations, and even nations might benefit from our Proof of Concept", Bkav noted. It's the same home button that also houses the fingerprint scanner since 2014, and that means that users will have to use Face ID to unlock the device or sign for payments.
