Citizenship saga: Senator Jacqui Lambie could be the next to leave Parliament

Jacqui Lambie could quit within 24 hours

She would join Barnaby Joyce Malcolm Roberts Larissa Waters and and Scott Ludlam as members of parliament who have lost their jobs as a result of the scandal

Independent senator Jacqui Lambie will resign from parliament at the start of Senate proceedings today, after receiving advice from the UK Home Office that she is entitled to UK citizenship via her father, who arrived in Australia at the age of one from Scotland.

The Independent Senator stressed that if it comes back that she is a dual-citizen, she will resign immediately.

The Tasmanian floated running in the lower-house seat of Braddon in the event the Labor incumbent, Justine Keay, was forced to resign because of a dual citizenship.

She said she would not run in the upcoming Tasmanian state election and would re-contest her seat at the next election. "I would never do that".

Cory Bernardi revealed he knew of another senator who was aware of their dual-citizenship and had not disclosed it to parliament, fuelling speculation it was Lambie. All have fallen foul of the constitutional requirements under section 44.

Last week Liberal MP John Alexander resigned, declaring he "most likely" held dual British-Australian citizenship. She said she realised that she could be a dual citizen while studying her father's history following Stephen Parry's resignation from the Senate.

As with the other recently disqualified senators, Senator Lambie's position would normally go to the next person on her Jacqui Lambie Network ticket in the 2016 election, following a recount.

Arkansas QB Cole Kelley arrested on DWI charge
Allen had completed 13 of 23 passes for 140 yards prior to being removed from the game. "There are some things he missed". Bielema added that Kelley is "very disappointed" in his actions and that Kelley and his parents agreed to the discipline.

Lambie has indicated her political career is not over.

Lambie's departure comes after the Senate on Monday night approved the new disclosure system, created to prevent a repeat of the citizenship fiasco.

Labor insists they are safe because they took all reasonable measures to renounce United Kingdom citizenship.

The outspoken parliamentarian at the time insisted her affairs were in order, and that she was "satisfied" there was no concern over her citizenship status.

"[I said] "Dad, there's no evidence you've renounced".

Adherence to that rule in a country where more than half the population of 24 million was either born overseas or has a parent who was born overseas has only come under the spotlight in the current crisis, with the High Court confirming a strict interpretation of the law.
