Three properties belonging to fugitive underworld don and terrorist Dawood Ibrahim were auctioned on Tuesday for approximately Rs 11.06 crore. The auction was held by a private firm at Indian Merchant Chamber in Churchgate today.
The auction was conducted by the Ministry of Finance under the Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture of Property) Act, 1976.
"All the three properties fall within the ambit of Bhendi Bazaar redevelopment that is being carried out by us".
The Hotel Raunaq Afroz was estimated at a bid of Rs 4.53 crore while the Guest House Shabnam went up for Rs 3.52 crore and the rooms in Damarwala building were bought for Rs 3.54 crore.
Three properties located in Bhendi Bazaar have caught the interest of the Saifee Burhani Upliftment Trust (SBUT) that is redeveloping Bhendi Bazaar.
The three properties, which are described as decrepit and unfit for living, would be refurbished, said the Saifee Trust in a statement.
