If they protest democratically, no one will have an objection. But, if the same people take the law in their own hands, they will be punished. The police have arrested eight people for the incident.
In more trouble for acclaimed film director Sanja Leela Bhansali, hundreds of right-wing outfit Rajput Karni Sena members on Wednesday launched protests against the controversial film Padmavati and pressed for a ban on it.
The members barged into the mall, which also houses a multi-screen cinema hall, and smashed the glass windows. They are also heard using profanities against the makers of the movie.
Padmavati marks the third film that Deepika has worked in under Bhansali's direction after romantic crime drama Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela and historical drama Bajirao Mastani - all of which, she says, gave her roles "so similar, yet so different".
"So, I feel it is unfair that you comment on a film without watching it".
The actor added that only the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has the power to decide if the film is suitable for release. "There's a lot of hard work goes when you make a film, the director has the right to present his perception and creativity, there should be freedom of speech and creativity", he said.
BJP leader Subramanian Swamy questioned Deepika's lecture on regression and tweeted, "Cine actress Deepika Padukone giving us lecture on regression!"
She said "where have we reached as a nation?"
Padmavati is directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Meanwhile, in Udaipur Sakal Rajput Mahasabha-Mewar, an integrated group of various Rajput organizations, commenced a signature campaign to protest against the release of Padmavati in Rajasthan. The protesters are already demanding a ban on the film and now the theaters are burnt way before the film is released. Many have come in support of the film, stating that a film should be taken as a film and nothing more.
