The Papa John's pizza chain apologized Tuesday for comments made by CEO John Schnatter, who had blamed the NFL and protesting players for its sales struggles during football season.

But on Tuesday night, Papa John's official Twitter account published a string of tweets addressing their statements on that earnings call. That definitely was not our intention.

Papa John's added that it is "open to ideas from all".

The pizza company was swiftly criticized by many for pressuring the league to suppress the player protests, which began as a way to bring attention to police brutality and racial injustice in America. "Except neo-nazis - (middle finger emoji) those guys".

This turned out to be a bad PR move for them as it started an all-out Pizza war, leading Schnatter's net worth to drop $70 million between the time he made the comments a few days after.

South Korean Navy Joins PyeongChang Olympic Torch Relay
The PyeongChang Olympics are slated to run from February ninth to 25th and the Paralympics from March ninth to 18th of next year. The symbolic Olympic Truce resolution has been adopted every two years ahead of the summer and winter games since 1993.

The movement was started past year by former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who kneeled to protest what he said was police mistreatment of blacks.

The protest has grown in the National Football League this season with more players taking part.

Although the controversy surrounding the anthem protests is quickly singled out as a major reason behind the NFL's declining viewership - ratings were down 5% overall through Week 7 compared to the same point a year ago - network TV viewership is down overall. "The NFL has hurt Papa John's shareholders".

"Sorry racial injustice couldn't be ended as easily as adding an extra topping and a side of ranch", ESPN reporter Jemele Hill wrote on Twitter on November 1.

While Jones supported the Papa John's CEO, it's clear the company saw enough negative reaction to create an apology.
