Apple plans new inexpensive 9.7-inch iPad for 2018, says sources
Apple is considering a new low-cost 9.7-inch iPad priced at around US$259 for 2018, according to sources from related upstream suppliers, which added that the device should be able to attract more demand from price-oriented consumers, allowing Apple to maintain its present 10 million-unit tablet shipments a quarter. The device is expected to launch in the second half of 2018.
In the report, Digitimes states that this new launch will be a bid by Apple to get into the higher-volume and price-conscious markets. Despite the slowdown in the tablet market in recent years, Apple's iPad has maintained its top position as far as sales are concerned. The tech giant will reportedly announce a new version of the regular-sized iPad at a price point of $259 (roughly Rs. 16,700).

The report does not provide details on whether the $259 iPad will replace or accompany the 2017 9.7-inch iPad.
