Instagram's Story Highlights feature lets you save Stories forever

How To Use Instagram Story Highlights So You Can Make Sure Everyone Sees Your Fave StoriesInstagram
You can save your highlights into individual Story reels which appear as circles on your profile. Now you can more fully express your identity by grouping stories you've shared into highlights and featuring them on your profile.
It's that sentiment that has driven the biggest Instagram profile update since 2013: as of December 5, users will be able to keep their Stories forever using the new Archive function - and display the ones they're oh so proud of in a brand-new section at the top of each user's profile called Highlights.
The second feature that is coming to Stories is called Archive. But there are more substantial changes than that too, and the features together offer major changes to the way that the recently introduced stories feature works. To create a new Highlight, users just need to tap the circular "New" icon that's on the top left.
For example, if you want to share a series of Stories from a recent vacation, you would save them to your profile under the name "Sea Trip" or the like. Just tap on a story to rewatch it or add it to a new story, share it in a post, or add it to a highlight (more on that below). There, you'll be able to easily switch between your posts archive and stories archive.
Moving forward, your stories will automatically save to your archive when they expire. The first story from each day will show a date indicator to help you navigate your archive as you scroll.
Your Instagram Stories no longer have to disappear forever after 24 hours. The "Stories Archive" page is where you'll see all your past stories. You can add them to your main feed, for instance, or use them to add to the highlights section of your profile - alternatively, you can turn off the archive feature entirely.
