Apple TV gets Amazon Prime Video app at last, Mr Robot here we come
The Apple TV series has pretty-much always featured Netflix, on its many iterations, but never before has it offered access to the Amazon Prime Video service. Multiple users on a Reddit Apple TV forum reported seeing promotions after setting their iPhone's date and time forward to December 6th.
For Apple, it will help to more easily sell its set-top box to the 90 million USA -based Amazon Prime subscribers.
Despite the competition between Apple and Amazon, it's easy to see why the two agreed for the Prime Video app to finally become available for the Apple TV.
So far, the app has appeared in Apple TV search in the U.S. and Canada, but not the United Kingdom, according to my Engadget colleagues there. It has now been released and it will work with the third generation Apple TV, the fourth generation Apple TV and of course the latest 4K Ultra HD 5tgh generation model. As for Apple, this could open the doors for Amazon to once again start selling the Apple TV on its store, as pointed out by The Verge. He also made it clear that from a business perspective, the deal had to be a good one.
