Female Democratic senators to Al Franken: Resign
06 December 2017, 07:24 | Israel Caldwell
Democratic women senators on Wednesday called on their embattled colleague Sen.
A woman is accusing Sen. "I look forward to fully cooperating with the ongoing ethics committee investigation", Franken said in a statement to POLITICO.
Franken, who was a comedian at the time, categorically denies the accusation, calling it "preposterous." . Al Franken has surfaced, this one from a former Democratic congressional aide who told a national politics news website that he tried to force a kiss on her after a recording of his radio show in 2006, three years before he took office. Al Franken to resign.
The woman told Politico she just wants Franken "to acknowledge that his behavior towards her and other women was intentional".
A total of six women have now accused Franken of unwanted touching.
Peshawar pays tribute to late actor Shashi Kapoor
Hang on @bbcnews Shashi Kapoor has died not Amitabh Bachan or Rishi Kapoor, who you've weirdly used to illustrate the story. The entire country mourned the loss and Bollywood was all about giving tributes to the thespian.
She was joined by Mazie Hirono of Hawaii, Claire McCaskill of Missouri, Patty Murray of Washington, Kamala Harris of California and Maggie Hassan of New Hampshire, who issued statements in a coordinated effort that is likely to jeopardize Mr. Franken's political future.
The Minnesota Democrat is facing a Senate Ethics Committee investigation into previous claims by several other women that he groped or sought to forcibly kiss them. The first, a radio newscaster, showed a picture of Franken groping her while she slept during a 2006 U.S.O. tour in the Middle East.
The double standard is not only coming from Democrats, but also from a left-leaning national media that seems eager to dismiss each of Franken's seven accusers even as they obsess over Conyers and - of course - Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore.
The developments left Franken in an increasingly hard position; the Minnesota Senator has shrugged off calls for his resignation, offering up apologies to women who came forward with their stories.
Two more women, whose identities were not revealed, told the Huffington Post that Franken grabbed their buttocks during separate incidents at campaign events in 2007 and 2008.
