Compensation Committee ignores Jerry Jones, gives Roger Goodell a new contract
Despite opposition from one of the league's most powerful owners, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has signed a new contract, according to multiple reports.
The memorandum to all owners explains that a "binding contract extension has been signed by the Commissioner and by Arthur Blank, on behalf of the League entities".
The Washington Post's Mark Maske later reported that Goodell's extension is for five years and up to $40 million per season, with about 90 percent tied to incentives.
All 32 owners unanimously granted the Compensation Committee permission in May to negotiate an extension with Goodell.
