Lindsey Vonn Says She Won't Be Representing Trump at the Winter Olympics

Lindsey Vonn Representing 'People of the United States, Not the President' at Winter Olympics

US participation at Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang 'an open question'

"If I were invited to the White House, which I consider a great honor, I would not attend".

"Absolutely not", she said, smiling and shaking her head.

"I hope to represent the people of the United States, not the president", Ms. Vonn said.

Vonn, the most successful female alpine skier of all time and one of the stars of the US contingent set to compete in South Korea, took aim at the president with pointed remarks in an interview with CNN.

She added that "I take the Olympics very seriously, and what they mean and what they represent, what walking under our flag means in the opening ceremony".

Atletico crash out, Chelsea sink to second place
We should top the group but it's a good draw, Atletico are very strong. No English club can play another in the next round of the competition.

But that doesn't mean Vonn is willing to keep her opinions about Trump to herself, as she makes clear in the following conversation with CNN's Christina MacFarlane from St. Moritz, Switzerland.

The games, which take place from February 9th through the 25th, represent perhaps her last chance to "represent [her] country well". No, actually, I think every U.S. team member is invited, so no, I won't go. At that point, Vonn paused: "No, actually, I think every US team member is invited".

In September, he rescinded an invitation to the White House to Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry after Curry said he didn't want the team to visit following its National Basketball Association championship.

Vonn is no fan of the current president, but her quote will likely be overanalyzed and torn apart from various political angles to fit varying political stances.

Vonn has visited the White House in the past, once in 2010 (according to a Facebook post) and another time in 2014 with then-boyfriend Tiger Woods to celebrate the winning 2013 U.S. Presidents Cup team.
