Franks represents the 8th district of Arizona, which includes the northwest Valley.

Both Reps. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) and David Schweikert (R-Ariz.) spoke with Franks on Thursday night but refused to discuss the matter.

If Franks steps down, Arizona Governor Doug Ducey would call a special election to fill the seat.
