The Seattle Seahawks have fired offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell after seven seasons, according to multiple media reports. "Bevell was told of the decision Tuesday night according to a source informed of the decision", according to 950 KJR Seattle's Curtis Crabtree.

As of mid-day Wednesday, the Seahawks had not announced Bevell's firing.

Head coach Pete Carroll tried to take the heat for the call, but much of the blame was still put on Bevell's shoulders.

Seattle finished 9-7 and missed the postseason for the first time in six years.

More details are in this ESPN story.

The Seahawks also ended the 2014 season with perhaps the most infamous play in Super Bowl history, an interception of Wilson by Malcolm Butler at the one-yard line in the final seconds that preserved a 28-24 New England victory.

It's unclear who the Seahawks will turn to as a replacement for Bevell.

The manager also reportedly claims that Weinstein was polite about originally declining to take a picture with the man. Weinstein does appear to stumble, in what seems more like confusion rather than the sheer force of the impact.

While Bevell's ouster will be celebrated by numerous 12s, that won't necessarily be the case with numerous players. "It's not playcalling", Baldwin said, when asked what ailed Seattle's offense. We don't execute as a team.

One possibility is former UW coach Steve Sarkisian, who worked under Carroll at USC from 2001-04 and again from 2006-08, and has been the offensive coordinator with the Atlanta Falcons this season after having worked at Alabama in 2016.

"And that's on us as players". The former Washington and USC coach worked for Carroll with the Trojans.

After serving three years at that post, Bevell was promoted to the Packers' quarterbacks coach in 2003, where he remained through 2005 before being plucked by the Vikings.

Offensive line coach Tom Cable has also come under much criticism for the performance of a group that many have pointed to as one of the primary issues for the offense - Seattle was just 23rd in the National Football League in rushing this season at 101.8 per game after ranking in the top four every year from 2012-15, seasons when Lynch was the team's primary ball carrier.

That year, he also fired the team's offensive coordinator, Jeremy Bates. Seattle finished no worse than fourth in rushing from 2012 to 2015 but has been 23rd and 25th in the past two seasons. Bevell's game planning, in general, has been criticized as of late for Seattle's most recent offensive woes. Cable, who joined Seattle's staff the same year as Bevell, is also not assured of being brought back next season.
