Fodder scam: Contempt notice to RJD, Cong leaders; Lalu's sentencing likely tomorrow

Fodder Scam: CBI Court to sentence Lalu Prasad Yadav today

Ranchi: A special court will pronounce the quantum of sentence for locked up ex- Bihar Chief Minister and RJD Supremo Lalu Prasad and 15 others convicted on tomorrow.

The sentencing was to be announced today by Special CBI court judge Shivapal Singh.

The CBI court, on December 23, had found Lalu Yadav and others guilty of furnishing fake bills and vouchers for withdrawal of Rs 89.27 lakh from Deoghar treasury for fodder procurement between 1991 and 1994. However, the sentencing was not pronounced due to a condolence meet for advocate Vindeshwari Prasad.

Lalu Prasad was escorted back to the Ranchi jail.

Lalu, who has been lodged in Ranchi's Birsa Munda jail ever since the court's December 23 verdict, had been brought to the special CBI court early on Wednesday morning.

Mother of H&M Model Says "Get Over It" to Critics
National Basketball Association star Lebron James shared a photo of the boy with a crown superimposed on his head. Celebrities such as The Weeknd expressed their outrage online.

On the day of Lalu's conviction, the Rashtriya Janata Dal conducted a press conference in New Delhi and party leader Manoj Jha alleged that the "CBI botched up the evidence" as he said, "The proofs provided by us were set aside by the CBI court as it convicted Yadav".

Tejashwi Yadav is leader of opposition in the Bihar Assembly. "Lalu's heir apparent Tejaswi Yadav and his elder brother Tej Pratap Yadav both have to work hard to steer the party ahead and face the challenges posed by ruling alliance of JD (U) and BJP", said political analyst Ajay Kumar.

This led senior RJD leader and former union minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, who was present on the court premises, to say, "Jagannath Mishra ko bail aur Lalu ko jail... abhi yehi hai khel (bail for Mishra and jail for Lalu, this is the game now)..."

The court had quashed the cases on the grounds that a person convicted in one case could not be tried in similar cases based on same witnesses and evidence. First, it's a 21-year-old case.
