Taking on Congress President Rahul Gandhi for criticising the Union Government before a global interaction in Bahrain, the BJP on Tuesday hit back saying that the Congress itself has practiced for long the politics of hatred in the country.
Mumbai, Jan 7 In a bid to "build momentum" ahead of Rahul Gandhi's visit to the city in March, the local Congress unit headed by Sanjay Nirupam today launched a campaign to make citizens aware about the "anti people" policies of the NDA government.
Gandhi visited Bahrain as a part of his outreach to the Indian diaspora. Delegates from 50 countries participated in the valedictory session of a function.
"I want to ask a question to Rahul Gandhi".
"Your talent, skills, tolerance, patriotism is what India needs today".
He also said that he was in Bahrain for a objective and that is "to tell you what you mean to your country".
Gandhi is expected to return to India later on January 9.
He met Bahrain's Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa and Foreign Minister Prince Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa and discussed ways to develop sports and cricket ties between the two countries. This anger is visible in the streets and is rising rapidly.
"The Indian youth today is unsure of his future".
Rahul's father and then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi had committed a "sin" by passing a law under pressure from Muslim bodies to negate a Supreme Court order to provide alimony to Shah Bano after her husband divorced her, he said. Gandhi said job creation is at an eight year low and instead of focusing on removal of poverty, job creating and world class education system, there has been a rise in forces of hate and division.
"There is a discussion about what one should eat, what one you should protest about" added Rahul.
Congress President Rahul Gandhi, while addressing a gathering at the convention of Global Organisation of People of Indian Origin in Bahrain, stated that the Central government is busy converting the fear being generated in jobless youth into hatred between communities.
"Activists and journalists are threatened; they are shot dead for expressing their views".
Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the contribution of Indians staying overseas and acting as goodwill ambassadors who improved relations between the country of their origin and residence.
