GETTY Mauricio Pellegrino needs to add more firepower to his Southampton front line this month

Yesterday, the news had it that Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge was edging towards a move to Newcastle United and that only the striker's wage demands stood in the way of him linking up with Rafa Benitez in the north-east of England this month. As well as finding it hard to compete with Roberto Firmino, Dominic Solanke and Danny Ings, Sturridge feels he must leave to reignite his career.

Sturridge hasn't played for Liverpool since early December in the Champions League against Spartak Moscow and has returned to training from an injury setback this week.

For Sturridge, I hope he can find full fitness and either receive game time at Liverpool to get to the World Cup or otherwise, I bid him farewell after an enjoyable 5 years at the club since his £12 million transfer from Chelsea in 2013.

Japan To Buy $133M Of Interceptor Missiles Amid North Korea Nuclear Threat
The U.S. government has notified Congress of the newly proposed sale of anti-ballistic missiles to Japan, said the U.S. He argued that the continuation of a nuclear-armed North Korea was "absolutely unacceptable".

Southampton and West Ham are two of the clubs reported to be interested in securing his services. Both clubs have struggled for goals this season and Sturridge's arrival would provide a much needed boost in the final third, while giving the player the best possible chance of featuring in the World Cup.

Sturridge has pace and the ability to keep the ball up, and could do with a change of scenery.

With just 14 appearances in all competitions this season, including nine league appearances, the England global is seeking a move away to keep him in the running for the 2018 World Cup in Russian Federation. He's got bags of quality and there'll be a number of Premier League teams circling around over the next few weeks.
