Alabama Crimson Tide favored to repeat
13 January 2018, 04:35 | Cesar Cruz
Alabama is the favorite to take home the national titles again next season
He is seen as a win-at-all-costs leader who will sacrifice anyone and anything to get the next win. The dogs could not get anything going in the second half, and the Crimson Tide often struck, tying the game and leading to one hell of a finish.
But that bitter view really has very little to do with the truth.
On Tuesday, Lane Kiffin said that if Tagovailoa had not played in Monday's game, he would be looking to transfer from Alabama. He is able to recruit the best athletes and football players to come to Alabama.
"Look, we have two good quarterbacks on our team, no doubt", Nick Saban said during a Monday morning press conference. "It's not just about winning the championship".
Saban endured a change of heart during halftime, electing to bench Hurts for freshman quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. It should be noted that Ole Miss was given odds even though the Rebels are banned from postseason play next year.
That's a 13% bump from last year's championship game, which was another last second nail-biter in which the Clemson Tigers beat Alabama for the title. Both teams brought their A-game, and there could only be one team crowned as the National Champs.
Tagovailoa, who attended the same high school as former OR quarterback Marcus Mariota - Saint Louis School in Honolulu, Hawaii - went from unknown freshman to perhaps a Heisman Trophy candidate in 2018, throwing a game-winning 41-yard touchdown pass in overtime to DeVonta Smith.
Tagovailoa had a big arm and could clearly throw the ball longer and deeper than Hurts.
Bears Hire Offensive Coordinator
Helfrich becomes the second coordinator to be hired after the Bears named Chris Tabor as special teams coordinator on Wednesday. Helfrich will not be calling plays initially, but he will inherit a second-year quarterback in Mitchell Trubisky.
"People just kind of thought that a lot of the other fans around college football might say you know what, I don't need to do it, I don't need to watch it", Cubelic said. He hadn't played in any game since November 18, or faced any FBS opponent since October 21.
"I am here buying shirts, hats, pennants and an Alabamasign". Great for our players.
Think about this: Saban now has more national titles than the other active head coaches combined. We ended up winning the game 28-14.
Saban, engulfed in a blanket of well-wishers, friends and media, acknowledged thousands of Crimson Tide fans in disbelief about what they had just witnessed.
Tagovailoa's strong left arm helped spark a 26-point second-half comeback for the Crimson Tide (13-1). However, it was in the fourth quarter that Alabama hit high gear and started functioning at near-peak efficiency. Tagovailoa tied the game in the final four minutes, with a 4th-down touchdown pass to Calvin Ridley, knotting the game at 20, and setting up the thrilling finish. The freshman threw a flawless strike downfield and showed remarkable poise after Georgia sacked him for a 16-yard loss on the previous play.
This time, Alabama came up with the late-game magic to send Georgia back to its locker room empty-handed. Under the theory that all things are possible, he certainly could have, but based on the way he was playing, it was not going to happen.
Alabama's senior center made sure this night would go down in his own history as one of the most important in his life by asking his girlfriend to marry him. It is also the Tide's fifth championship in nine years, a run unrivaled in modern-day college football.
In big games involving Alabama, it takes heroic efforts by the opponent to put the game out of reach.

When asked if his relationship with Bannon is permanently broken, Trump stated, "I don't know what the word permanent means". Trumpism, understood correctly, at its core, could always be summed up as Donald Trump first.
