Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar visits a village during his Samiksha Yatra in Buxar

Upset over lack of development, a group of villagers on Friday stoned Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's convoy in Buxar district, injuring almost a dozen security personnel, an official said. Kumar was on a visit to a village in the district as a part of his Vikas Kaaryon Ki Sameeksha Yatra.

Referring to the attack on Kumar, a local police official claimed that a few villagers had complaints about the developmental works in their area. The protesters sat on the road from where the convoy was to return. The chief minister was on his way to Yadav-dominated Nandan panchayat to launch development schemes when a group of people standing near a heap of bricks outside a bamboo plantation pelted stones on his convoy.

"Nearly a dozen police officials were injured and windscreens of several vehicles damaged in the attack", a district official told IANS from Buxar, about 125 km from Patna. However, the chief minister safely reached the venue where he addressed the meeting under heavy security. "I will continue visiting places to have a firsthand feel of development works".

The Chief Minister urged all to make his January 21 human chain against dowry and child marriage successful.
