6 tech trends to watch at CES 2018
The very first Consumer Electronics Show was held in NY in 1967, where exhibitors showed off pocket radios and TV sets across a scattering of the city's hotels. The 1970 show saw Sony debut the videocassette recorder a year before it went on sale, and in 1978 the exhibition moved to Las Vegas.
Amazon will have its own booth for Alexa at CES this year, and it's promising "exciting new products along with hundreds of vendors who have chosen to develop products based on Amazon voice technology".
LG has been keen to show off its latest home robot at the Las Vegas event. There are giant walls of OLED TVs, a virtual reality ride, and internet-connected smart fridges that still can't keep food from spoiling without electricity.
Robots have been doing the rounds in the world of consumer electronics for a while now, with each new year hurtling us towards some kind of dystopian (or utopian - glass half full and all that) future.
"A recent report from the Government Accountability Office found that 'there remains a persistent lack of racial, ethnic, and gender diversity in the technology workforce, '" CTA president and CEO Gary Shapiro and CES senior VP Karen Chupka wrote in their response to Gender Avenger founder Gina Glantz. "This is a global issue - not just within the technology sector - all industries and our society at large can and must do better".
Artificial Intelligence- AI will also be an area of show and discussion.
"There is an isolated power outage at the Las Vegas Convention Center". We also saw Amazon's Echo range given a new lick of (technological) paint - definitely symptomatic of a big rejuvenation of the smart home industry. For 2018, it's clear that trend is only getting bigger, especially now that Google has had a full year under its belt and a chance to push out another round of AI-powered devices.
Others had humorous takes, with Intel's account calling it the "the biggest thing to hit CES since 5G".
It will be held at three different locations in Las Vegas, Nevada, dubbed Tech East, Tech West, and Tech South.
There are many other companies which will introduce innovative gadgets at the event. This is the first time in which cities development using technology is going to participate in the CES.
First trailer for Blumhouse's new horror Truth or Dare
It's not my preferred genre, but I can get into them from time to time if I think it's going to be a really solid movie. The film is being directed by Jeff Wadlow who directed "Kick-Ass 2" and "True Memoirs of an International Assassin".
Trump's plan to help his rural base? Just Obama's leftovers
He said that means pressing for robust funding in the next five-year farm bill, with the current one expiring later this year. The NAACP is urging people to wear white and hold anti-Trump signs on Monday for President Donald Trump's visit to Atlanta.
Saints defeat Panthers for the third time this season
The Saints lost starting left guard Andreas Peat with a leg injury in the second quarter and his teammates rallied in his absence. Needless to say, at that juncture of the game with Carolina trailing by five points, the call was crushing for the Panthers .
Trump receives 2018 with a luxurious party at a private club
Funk also beat both Trump and pops on the golf course. "He did make us regular people feel pretty darn special for a day". Asked how far he was driving the ball these days, the 71-year-old United States leader said it "gets shorter every year".
