Rafa Benitez says Newcastle talking with agents over transfers

'Need to sell', 'Infuriating' – Newcastle fans fume over one man in clash v Swansea

Carlos Carvalhal insists Swansea were denied a clear penalty in Newcastle stalemate

And that stance has been hardened by the delay in owner Mike Ashley telling him how much money has to spend of new players.

"We can consider selling players who are not playing because as I have said before, (Jamie) Sterry and (Jack) Colback, we are not using and they need to play".

"It might not be possible for the team to play as I want after just a month, what is important is that we fight to win games".

"We still have some weeks to go and have to keep working and try to do our best".

"If Rafa thinks he has it hard, then he should probably ask Carvalhal what he is thinking at the moment".

"But the others? We can not sell them because the others are already playing".

He added: "They have a new manager".

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar's convoy stoned
The Chief Minister urged all to make his January 21 human chain against dowry and child marriage successful. Kumar was on a visit to a village in the district as a part of his Vikas Kaaryon Ki Sameeksha Yatra .

"We can not sell players that are playing because we would need to replace them with better players and in January, it takes a lot of money to convince them to come here. A massive game for them, a massive game for us".

Benitez has stressed the need for additions if Newcastle are to stay up, but he has not made one signing so far this month, and he surely now will be hoping that he does not have to watch another player on his wishlist join a different club.

Newcastle have a deal in place to sign Chelsea winger Kenedy on loan but are waiting for the green light from Stamford Bridge for the move to go through.

We also know he's unlikely to get what he wants.

Ashley, however, would rather Benitez sold before he bought.

The 13th-placed club is yet to sign a player in this month's window.

As things stand, Ashley remains the sole source of transfer capital, but while the Sports Direct boss appears determined to keep his cheque book in his pocket, Benitez denies that the ongoing uncertainty regarding a possible takeover is having an adverse effect on the day-to-day running of the club.
