Trump's Personal Lawyer Files Lawsuits Over Russia Dossier

Firm behind Trump-Russia dossier calls on judge in defamation case to recuse himself over past volunteer work for Trump

CRIMINAL CHARGES FOR THE BRITISH SPY OF DOSSIER INFAMY

Cohen filed a defamation lawsuit against Buzzfeed and the research firm that produced the Russian dossier - Fusion GPS and founder Glenn Simpson - for releasing the 35-page document which he claims made false allegations against him, CNN reports.

The lawyer Michael Cohen, filed the lawsuit in NY state on Tuesday, almost a year after BuzzFeed published the dossier commissioned by political opposition research firm Fusion GPS.

Smith's op-ed recounted the dossier's timeline, what BuzzFeed knew at the time they published it and what the country has learned in year since.

The dossier includes a number of salacious claims about the Trump campaign's ties to Russian officials, including allegations about Mr Cohen that have not been verified. This is why The New York Times posts leaked audio recordings, and why news organizations routinely publish raw court documents underlying their articles.

As I say, I don't have really any additional information beyond this except that - I mean, its probably in here somewhere actually, but it's well known in intelligence circles that the Russians have cameras in all the luxury hotel rooms and there are memoirs written about this by former Russian intelligence agents I could quote you. "My name was included only because of my proximity to the president".

Shortly after BuzzFeed published the dossier, Trump attorney Cohen tweeted a photo of his passport, which he says proves he never visited Prague.

The lawsuits were first reported by ABC News.

It is pertinent to mention several important details from the dossier have since been corroborated independently.

Trump's plan to help his rural base? Just Obama's leftovers
He said that means pressing for robust funding in the next five-year farm bill, with the current one expiring later this year. The NAACP is urging people to wear white and hold anti-Trump signs on Monday for President Donald Trump's visit to Atlanta.

A spokesman for BuzzFeed News responded to the suit in a statement: "The dossier is, and continues to be, the subject of active investigations by Congress and intelligence agencies. Its interest to the public is obvious", said BuzzFeed spokeswoman Katie Rayford.

Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein of California has released a transcript from the Senate Judiciary Committee's August interview with a co-founder of Fusion GPS. The suit did not immediately appear in the electronic court docket. Simpson's lawyer Josh Levy jumped in: "He's going to decline to answer that question". Cohen testified to the House Intelligence Committee behind closed doors on October 24 and publicly to the Senate Intelligence Committee on October 25.

Simpson said that when then-FBI Director James Comey announced on October 28, 2016, that he was reopening the email investigation into Clinton's private server, Steele had "some sort of interaction" - "probably telephonic" - with the FBI. His legal team is preparing for a potential interview with the special counsel and is in preliminary discussions with Mueller's office about the parameters of such a discussion, a person familiar with the matter said Tuesday.

Ben Smith, the site's editor in chief, said the past year, filled with more questions about Mr Trump's links to the Kremlin and multiple high-level investigations, more than vindicated the decision.

Fusion GPS, which is based in Washington, D.C., hired Steele on behalf of its clients, the Clinton campaign and DNC.

Feinstein used her own authority to make public a long set of questions and answers from August between Senate Judiciary Committee investigators and Glenn Simpson, whose political research shop, Fusion GPS, plays a key role in the Russian Federation saga.

Carlson countered that there's always information that gets passed around that are ultimately passed on because of "unverifiable" and "defamatory" information within.
