Dangerous challenge on social media focusing on laundry pods

Medical professionals are speaking out after the freakish online challenge of putting laundry pods in your mouth spikes in popularity.

'No one should be putting anything like that in their mouths, you know?'

The phenomenon is suspected to date back to 2015 when online satire publication The Onion published an article from the perspective of a toddler determined to eat a red-and-blue detergent pod.

Previously children 5 and younger were considered to be most at risk; the small packets were sometimes mistaken for candy, and poison control centers received reports of more than 10,500 exposures to young children in 2017.

Some teens are following the latest social media trend that could be deadly.

Online pranksters and daredevils have been messing with laundry detergent for years.

When people bite down on packets, they burst and shoot a toxic mix into the throat.

At the same time, the absorbable portions of the laundry pod that have made their way into your stomach and GI tract can migrate into your bloodstream and vital organs, including your brain.

A Photograph Helps Vikas Gupta Win His Task!
Vikas placed only a single order before her - to either jump into the swimming pool (that Shilpa hates) or press the buzzer. Puneesh listens to her and later tells Hina that Shilpa has no emotions and that she broke her mug without any feelings.

In 2018 alone they say 40 cases have been reported.

Unfortunately, the Tide Pod Challenge is already the second risky trend of 2018.

Other makers of pod-style detergent packaging have followed similar routes to child-proof their containers.

Just when it nearly looked safe for Procter & Gamble advertise on YouTube again, the meme "eating Tide Pods" has surged again on social media.

After repeatedly saying "no", when asked whether "eating Tide Pods is a good idea, Gronk sums up this entire fad with one sentence: "What the heck is going on, people?"

In College Humor's Don't Eat The Laundry Pods video, viewers see a college student tempted to eat Tide Pods.

However, while the teenagers may think the whole thing is a massive joke, experts have previously been warned about how harmful it can be to consume the pods.

Indeed, 2018 is a very unusual year already, and it's only January.
