Nigel Farage warming to idea of second Brexit referendum

The ex-Ukip leader told The Independent that Conservatives were "terrified" of considering a second vote, because it would tear their party apart. The party leadership now maintains that there is no need for another popular vote - in contrast to some of its pro-EU backbenchers.

One report, published Wednesday by Demos, a think tank, found that a "relatively significant proportion" of voters who opted to have the United Kingdom exit the European Union are starting to change their minds. If it's a straight "Remain" or "Leave", there's a risk a vote on principle will reinforce Brexit.

Britons have changed their mind on Brexit and now back Remain, a fresh poll on European Union membership suggests. He went on to suggest that the new result would politically "finish off" Remain campaigners, including "the Cleggs, the Blairs, and the Adonis'".

Mr Farage, who- like many Leave campaigners- has accused those wishing for a second referendum of sour grapes, appeared to change his mind during a television interview on Thursday.

"We must ready ourselves for the possibility of one last dramatic battle", he wrote in the Telegraph.

"Now we're executing the process and within a very few months we'll be out".

"They must pressurise MPs in their constituencies".

Lord Malloch Brown, chairman of Best for Britain, which opposes Brexit, said: "A second referendum: my message is clear - bring it on".

True Lies costar Jamie Lee Curtis tells People she didn't know about the incident, which she calls "very sad and disturbing". We all collectively as a human race have to do that. "It's not a reckoning for Hollywood, it's not a reckoning for America".

The businessman suggested Theresa May's government was "backsliding" on the issue and urged the United Kingdom to "act radically now" or it would "sleepwalk into a faux Brexit'".

Banks has explained that "True Brexiteers have been backed into a corner", and that is why the second referendum on the country's future could "let the people shout from the rooftops their support of a true Brexit", adding, "Leave would win by a landslide".

Hours after arguing that another vote would silence those "whinging and whining" who are against leaving the bloc, and with the idea drawing immediate support from pro-EU politicians, he sought to clarify his comments and reversed course.

And Prime Minister Theresa May's spokesman, James Slack, was firm. "I agree. Bring it on!" he said on Twitter.

Tom Brake, Brexit spokesman for the Liberal Democrats, said: "Farage shouldn't be so confident of winning". Previously he has insisted that the result of the 2016 referendum had to be respected.

But Tory MPs and fellow Ukip members were horrified. I think that's what it's about. But there is no need to do it.

'No, no, no!' tweeted Ukip's London Assembly leader Peter Whittle.

"We will not be having a second referendum", he said.
