Motorola ups the ante with 1000 Moto Hubs to boost offline presence

Motorola announces 25 Moto Hubs in Kolkata

Motorola may have sadly scrapped its plans to launch the Moto X5, but it looks like it could be on the cusp of releasing a new VR-based headset. It is worth noting a VR headset is now being planned, however, so Moto may not be done with eccentric Mods just yet.

It was claimed in a report by Android Police, citing sources familiar with the case that the Moto X5 is being stranded by Lenovo as a outcome of the layoffs.

Last month, it launched the Moto Z2 Force in the country and next month, it might launch the Moto G6 series in the country, followed by Moto E5 lineup and Moto Z3 devices. While the mobile phone company confirmed the layoffs in its office in Chicago, it announced that the Moto Z series of modular phones would continue appearing. The report says this means products such as gamepad and health tracker mods will get the cut.

Motorola have had a rocky few years since being taken over by Lenovo and unfortunately 2018 has started off with more of the same.

Sam Nunberg shows up for grand jury testimony
Nunberg went to the bar with the knowledge that he would "not have a drink definitely the rest of the week", he told Yahoo News. Earlier this week he said he would not appear before a jury as directed by the subpoena from Mueller.

A source close to the company confirmed to us that between a third and a half of the engineering staff in Chicago was laid off this week.

Moto, in an official statement to different publications, said that late in the year 2017, Lenovo announced a worldwide resource action that would occur over the next several quarters and impact less than two percent of its global workforce. The number of "employment reductions" was not mentioned however. He said that the Mods and Z team in Moto was irreparably affected. He responded to an Indiegogo backer who asked if the Moto Z line was being killed off with, "To be honest, it looks even worse than that".

The report also indicates that the company will move away from specialised mods to more mainstream mods that will result in profitability.

Unfortunately, Evan Blass doesn't have any specific details available about the Virtual Viewer other than its press renders.
