Amazon has figured out why your Alexa smart speaker is laughing at you

Alexa's random creepy laughter is freaking out Echo users

With follow-up mode, users can give Alexa commands or requests back to back, without having to say "Alexa" for each one.

Even though Alexa will now wait a little longer, the digital assistant can still only respond to one command at a time. Once that fades, it means Alexa has returned to sleep mode and will only be accessed again via the wake word.

The company noted that it also intends to change Alexa's response from simply laughter to a notification saying it's going to laugh, followed by laughter.

There are potential problems here, though. This is signified by the blue ring on an Echo speaker or other Echo device staying lit up. For instance, this follow-up mode only works when Alexa is "confident" the second command is not just background noise from a conversation or a program on TV. You can enable Follow-Up Mode on your device by opening the Alexa app and navigating to the Settings menu.

The recent tax cut dropped the previous corporate rate was 35 percent but was cut to 21 percent for an indefinite period. But Cruz's real challenge will come in November, when he'll likely be facing the leading Democratic candidate, Rep.

If you don't want Alexa to keep listening, Amazon says you can stop each occurrence of Follow-Up Mode with a simple "thank you" or "stop" to get her to stop listening.

Amazon told "The Verge" that the investigation was launched after users shared a video on social media showing Alexa emitting random laughter.

What do you think about Follow-Up Mode? As of now, the "follow-up" mode is available only in English and works only when Alexa is not being used for another continual activity.

Amazon's Echo speakers are by far the most popular among those on the market, which includes Google Home and more recently Apple's HomePod. eMarketer estimates Amazon has 70 per cent of the market.
