Two Cricket South Africa officials face action over Sonny Bill Williams masks

South African Officials Under Fire For Posing With Fans Wearing Sonny Bill Williams Masks

Williams, the All Blacks midfielder, and Warner's now wife, Candice Warner, were involved in a drunken toilet cubicle encounter in a Sydney hotel in 2007.

They also cleared that the board has taken necessary action over the involved officials in the matter.

Cricket South Africa commercial manager Clive Eksteen and head of media and communications Altaaf Khazi posed for a photo with three fans who were all wearing Sonny Bill Williams masks during the second Test.

The masks are believed to be linked to the personal sledges exchanged behind closed doors between Warner and De Kock where the Aussie vice-captain's wife Candice was allegedly mentioned in a derogatory manner.

The masks, which Cricket South Africa labeled "distasteful" on Saturday when the picture became public, were being used by a small number of fans at the ground in Port Elizabeth to taunt Warner.

According to Fairfax Media, the Australian camp were aware of the masks going into the first day of the Test, and asked that they be banned.

"On behalf of CSA, I extend my honest apologies to the board of Cricket Australia (CA), its officials, team management, players and their families", the CSA said in a statement, "CSA does not associate itself with these actions and urges all Protea supporters from refraining from being involved in distasteful or unwelcome actions that may impact the image of the sport and its supporters".

Kagiso Rabada faces suspension for remainder of South Africa-Australia Test series
Cummins also edged behind and Starc was clean bowled, with Rabada aiming a comment at the Australian as he went on his way. The dismissal of Smith brought a huge roar from Rabada, who then made contact with the shoulder of his opponent on Friday.

CSA said Eksteen and Kazi were now subject to "internal processes".

Fall-out from the incident continued on Saturday, with South African cricket writer Telford Vice insisting fans who broke the masks "disgrace cricket followers".

"On behalf of CSA I extend my honest apologies to the Board of Cricket Australia (CA), its officials, team management, players and their families", he said. She is also a model and celebrity TV star.

"Us South Africans, we stand together and we're out here for de Kock".

The tensions between South Africa and Australia during their four-Test series is set to continue after another embarrassing incident.

Warner and de Kock were both fined and given disciplinary sanctions for the altercation.
